We’re ready for the new year.  The championship has finally been granted a permit and the Regulations and Registration Form for the 2013 year have published on this website – see the Regulations Page.

As most people will already know, AS Performance have agreed to continue with their support of the championship for another year.  This is their 5th year as title sponsor and we’re delighted to have them on board once again.

This year, we’ve kept the tried and trusted formulas that we know worked well last year and just tweaked a couple of things.  Firstly, we’re giving contenders the chance to double their points score on a rally by using a ‘Joker’ – full detail are contained in the Article 4 of the Regulations.  We’ve also reduced the class structure by removing the class for cars running to F1000 and FS1000 specifications – this hasn’t attracted the interest that we’d hoped so we’ve decided to discontinue the class.

The first event of the ’year’ is the Specsavers Christmas Stages Rally and it’s continuing in it’s traditional slot between Christmas and New Year.  This rally will run on Saturday 29th December and will be based as usual at the Croft Circuit.  This year the organisers are offering 8 stages of high quality asphalt covering approximately 50 miles on this compact single venue rally and they have already received over 80 entries.  The closing date for entries has passed earlier this week but the organisers hope to start with the maximum 90 cars and the seeded entry list is expected anytime now.  All the action happens on the 29th with scrutineering and documentation opening at 06:00 !  For more information, go to the rally website http://www.northallerton-ac.co.uk/xmas/

The Jack Frost Stages in association with AUTOGAS 2000 and Cartersport will run Sunday January 20th is the second round and will also be based at Croft again.  The organisers haven’t received as many entries as the Christmas Stages but still have almost 70 entries placed.  If you are considering doing the rally, then you will need to get your entry in by Tuesday 8th January for this one.  The link for the rally http://www.darlington-motor-club.org.uk/series_home.php?seriesid=35

There’s also a quick mention about the Legend Fires North West Stages.  Although the rally doesn’t take place until 8th and 9th February and the Regulations have just been released, the organisers have received 60 entries already.

The latest Scrutineers Bulletin published by the MSA is also available on our Regulations Page.  Key points of interest are On-board cameras page 2; Exhaust and sound testing page 3; Noise control in Rallies page 3; Stage rally wheel diameters page 4; ROPS door bars page 4; Harness bars in ROPS page 5 and Towing eyes page 5.  If anyone has any queries about any of these issues, then please contact the Championship Scrutineer – Colin Salkeld – who will be happy to assist.

And finally in case you weren’t aware, we’ve started tweeting.  Our Twitter account can be found @nerallychamp as we hope to bring you some news quicker – particularly for those folk who can’t make it to a rally.
