AS Performance NETRC 2015 under starters orders
We’re ready for 2015. We’ve got our championship registration approved by the MSA and we’re good to go for the ‘new year’. And it’ll come as no surprise to most readers, that things will be similar to 2014.
Firstly the continuity is that once again we have AS Performance as our title sponsor. This is the 7th consecutive year that Alyn Stockton has supported the championship and we’re delighted to have him along with us once more.
However, there are 3 significant changes to tell you about. We’ve had to make a change to our qualifying rounds for 2015 as the organisers of the Jim Clark National have been unable make progress with the planning of next year’s rally. So we welcome Glenrothes Motor Sport Club to join us on June 13 when they are running theSummer Stages.
While the scoring system remains the same for those finishing an event, something new is that we’ll be giving everyone who starts a rally 1 point as well.
And as an opportunity to come up with more variation in the cars competing in our championship, we’ve introduced a class for Historic cars. Quite simply it is one class for any car that has a current Historic Rally Vehicle Identity Form and is defined as a Historic car in the MSA Technical Regulations (R49) – all Category 1, 2 or 3 cars first registered before 1982
So moving on to the opening 3 rallies of the calendar, which are the same as last year, and already they’re proving very popular. The first one is the Christmas Stages Rally and it’s continuing in it’s traditional slot between Christmas and New Year. This rally will run on Sunday 28th December and will be based as usual at the Croft Circuit. The entry list is already oversubscribed and so we’ll start the year with a full entry along with a short reserve list. For more information, go to the rally websitehttp://www.northallerton-ac.co.uk/xmas/
The Jack Frost Stages in association with AUTOGAS 2000 and Cartersport will run on Sunday January 19th and is the second round of our championship. Once again it will also be based at Croft. Entries haven’t been made at the same pace as the Christmas Stages yet they have almost 50 entries placed at the moment. If you are considering doing the rally, then you will need to get your entry in by Friday 9th of January for this one. The organisers are promising not to bank any cheques until Friday 2nd. The link for the rally is www.darlington-motor-club.org.uk/series_home.php?seriesid=48
And finally for now, a quick mention about the Legend Fires North West Stages. Although the rally doesn’t take place until 6thand 7th February and the Regulations have just been released, the organisers received well over a 100 entries within a week. There will be more about this event next time and the official rally website is www.nwstages.co.uk
