ASP / NETRC Championship 2017 – Christmas Stages 2016
We’re ready for the 2017 championship. We finally have our championship registration approved so it’s all systems go for our new year. As ever we’ve stuck with a tried and tested formula that has served the championship well over the years and only tweaked a couple of things as we look to try and continually improve the championship.
Once again it’s great to have the continuity in that we have AS Performance as our title sponsor. This is the 9th consecutive year that Alyn Stockton has supported the championship and we’re delighted to have him along with us once more.
Those of you who attended our recent awards presentation will already be aware of the slight change to next year’s qualifying rounds. We hope that the organisers of the Jim Clark Rally will be able to make progress with the planning of their return to closed roads rallying next year. The recent announcement of a Fatal Accident Inquiry to look at the events on their 2014 event as well as the 2013 Snowman Rally takes everyone into unknown territory. We may see some progress in the short term or it could take quite some time.
We’re also including a new event in this year’s calendar, the NHMC Warcop Stages. We welcome new organisers using a familiar venue and wish North Humberside Motor Club every success in their new venture.
There’s no change to the scoring system or the supplementary Regulations for next year other than we have withdrawn the class for vehicles classified as Historic Cars due to the poor take up.

The opening rally is the traditional and very popular Christmas Stages Rally. This event will run next week on Tuesday 27thDecember and will be based as usual at the Croft Circuit.
