ASP / NETRC Championship Entries Rev Up For 2017
Although the 2017 championship is very much in draft mode at the moment as we await MSA approval, the first three rallies are already taking shape. As usual we will kick off the new year’s championship with a rally in the old year – the Swift Signs Christmas Stages Rally. Run at Croft Circuit on Tuesday 27thDecember, it’s the ideal excuse to get away from the Christmas festivities and get a fix of some top class rallying. Entries for this popular rally opened a few weeks ago and quickly passed the maximum permitted number of 90 starters. The organisers plan to seed the lucky ones after the 9th December so keep an eye on the event website of http://www.northallerton-ac.co.uk/xmas/ for further updates.
The next rally will be the aptly named Jack Frost Stages that is scheduled for Sunday 15th January. Darlington and District Motor Club are planning another rally similar to the Christmas Stages in that they will utilise the same venue and we can expect similar competitive mileage. The weather is often a little wintry on this rally and it throws up some unexpected conditions, driving and results. The rally organisers are still awaiting a permit from the MSA but do hope to have this sorted out very soon and therefore are planning to open entries on Monday 12th December at 19:00. And finally for now, a quick mention about round 3 of the championship, the 20th running of the Legend Fires North West Stages. Plans are well under way for this rally that will continue to be based at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool. There has been a change of date this time and the event will run 3 weeks later than usual meaning the action takes place on Friday 24thand Saturday 25th February. The rally is expected to retain a similar format to 2016 and the Regulations have just been published. However, we do know that the on-line entries system will be available on Saturday 10th December 2016 at 09:00 hours.
