NETRC Lindisfarne Rally Cancellation
Lindisfarne Rally cancelled. Tynemouth Motor Club have just announced that the Fostek Lindisfarne Rally due to be held on Sunday 8th September 2013 has been cancelled. Clerk of the Course Ed Barber said, “The overriding reason for this decision is due to lack of entries. Whilst the committee appreciate that entries officially close on Saturday 31st August 2013 the number received at this stage (Monday 26 August 2013) cannot justify any further outlay for this event.”
Since the news broke, we have tried to find a suitable replacement rally but this has not been possible. Therefore as the number of rounds in the championship has been now been reduced to nine, so a competitor’s best six scores will now count towards their points totals – see championship regulation 4.
However, we must move on and look forward to 2 weeks after the planned date for the Lindisfarne when we will have the Stobart Rail Pendragon Stages. Similar to 2012, this will be our penultimate event of the year plus it’s the annual opportunity to run over Warcop Ranges, near Appleby. Once again Kirkby Lonsdale Motor Club, Eden Valley Motor Club and Northallerton Automobile Club will promote the rally, which will run on Sunday 22nd September 2013. Regulations have been released for a while now and the organisers are offering up to 72 challenging stage miles with only 15 road miles over 8 Stages. The event will count towards 6 regional championships and the maximum number of entries is 80. The first 70 will be accepted in order of receipt of fully completed entry forms and the full entry fee. The remaining 10 places will be allocated at the Organiser’s discretion. The organisers have already received 69 entries with some very quick cars and names on the list. There’s more information available at the event website – www.pendragonstages.co.uk
And finally there’s also some news of the last rally of this year, the Cheviot Keith Knox. Whickham and District Motor Club along with Hadrian Motor Sports Club will be hosting the UTS Cheviot Keith Knox Stages on Sunday 20th October 2013. Regulations are expected to be published later this week – keep an eye on www.cheviotstages.org.uk for more information.
