As we move into the second half of our championship year, we now have 2 events coming up on consecutive weekends starting with the Wilkinson Maintenance Tyneside Stages. Once again the rally is a co-promotion by Alnwick and Berwick Motor Clubs and this year takes place on Sunday 3rd August.

As is the norm with this rally now, contenders will fight it out over Otterburn’s renowned military ranges where they’ll find 12 stages covering 90 competitive miles and all linked together by 60 road miles. The organisers are already taking entries and they have received over 40 so far. Entries close for seeding on 21st July and close finally on 28th July. A recce over the stages will start at 11:00 on Saturday 2nd and this is followed by documentation at Otterburn Leisure Centre. The Otterburn Airstrips is the base for action on rally day and car 1 will leave there at 8:31. For more information, go to the event’s website – www.alnwickmotorclub.co.uk/tyneside-stages-rally

And just 6 days later we have the Usedcarparts Solway Coast Rally running on SATURDAY 9th August. Solway Car Club will be running the event, which will be based at Dundrennan Army base. This year the organisers are offering 58 miles of competition split into 10 stages. The stage over on the east side of the ranges still has 2 short sections about 200m long of ‘compacted loose surface’ due to the fact the MOD are going to be doing some work there soon. The remainder of the roads are good tarmac as Solway Car Club continue their efforts to upgrade the surface whenever possible. Similar to last year the Army is opening up their canteen and bar for use during the rally weekend and camping will be available too.
